Enter the Belmore/Victoria Sts carpark! This is a brilliant skate, smooth, flat, lit at night. Myself and Donna hit the pavement and practiced ‘the robot’! Hopefully we’ll get more skaters down here soon. Live in fear of no-one turning up. Get slighty hysterical before I leave the house. Alas.More
Second WIRD skate
After missing WIRD’s first skatey get together last Sunday (due to ridiculous work commitments) I was eager to get out there and have a go! Five of us turned up to the carpark out the back of ****. Took some sweeping and bits of it were down/up hill. Not too bad. Apparently roller skating is…More

Researched RD on the net and started the Wollongong-Illawarra Roller Derby facebook group in late December, 2008. By…More

(Full text) It should be no surprise there has been such a rise in the number of children being removed from dysfunctional or abusive families (“Foster care crisis as families fall apart”, March 15-16). By 19 I had a criminal record, a drug habit, a child, a sexually transmitted disease, a dodgy School Certificate, and…More
‘Environmental Ennui: Compassion Fatigue’, Tertangala
(Full Text) Our newspapers and television screens are filling up with topographical images showing the progression and impact points of various natural disasters. Earthquakes, avalanches, hurricanes, tsunami, even avian flu, are all examples of the natural environment’s response to human habitation. Our attempts to shape and mould our communities are having long-term effects on the…More
